Liberia International Airport is just 20-minutes from Coco Bay Estates.

The new international airport in Liberia, the capital city of Guanacaste province, offers direct daily flights to many U.S. cities and Canada. Now Europeans can fly direct to Liberia as well. Non-stops from London Gatwick began in May 2007, and direct flights to and from Milan are scheduled to begin shortly. Since the first direct flights from the U.S. landed in 2002, bringing 50,000 travelers to the area, the number of visitors has increased dramatically. International arrivals just topped 450,000 people—a 900% increase since 2002.

Visitors can also fly into the country’s main airport, Juan Santamaria, in San Jose. From there it’s a three-hour drive through beautiful country to the northern Pacific coastline.

Banking & Currency
Exchanging dollars is relatively easy in Costa Rica and dollars are widely accepted. Costa Rica's national currency, the colon, fluctuates in value to the U.S. dollar so check a currency exchange website before you travel. A good one is http://www.xe.com/ucc.

You can exchange currency at San Jose's Juan Santamaria International Airport or the international airport in Liberia. However, there also are state and private institutions that offer both local and international banking services. You can also use ATM’s to withdraw colones against your credit or debit cards. As is standard for all world travelers, changing money on the streets may not be the best choice. If you prefer not to carry a lot of colones, most international credit cards are widely accepted in Costa Rica, as are U.S. dollars. It’s good to have a few colones on hand, however, as smaller hotels, restaurants and shops may not accept anything but the national currency.

Green Season
Costa Rica enjoys moderate temperatures throughout the year, with just enough rainfall to keep the country lush, green and beautiful. In the Guanacaste region (the northern Pacific coast), there is a shorter-than-normal rainy season. Even then, the days often start out sunny and warm with a mild shower cooling things off the afternoon.
